Redecorating the Bathroom! :)
9:45 p.m. || February 04, 2015

And now for a completely superficial post... :)

Today I bought new linens for my bathroom. It's ridiculous how excited I am about redecorating the bathroom.

Shower time is my "me" time these days, so I am trying to create more of a spa-like feel in there.

What is really annoying is that I have yucky colors to work with. I think this might be called chartreuse. Or avocado green. Or just plain yellow-green.

So I did a ton of thinking and research and asked a few people which colors would help the bathroom look nicer. I finally decided on with charcoal gray and pure white. With a possible blue in there.

There's so much yellow in that room that it's just nauseating, so I wanted to bring in something fresher and clearer and cooler.

I wasn't sure about the pure white at first. But I found a pure white hand towel in our house and hung it up to try it out and WOW! That alone makes a giant difference!! White looks so clean! <3 <3 <3 Plus it adds some contrast to the yellowy feel of the whole place. Awesome!

So today I took Micah to a discount store and shopped in their bathroom area. I didn't find charcoal gray towels that I liked, but I found pure white ones, and I found pure white and charcoal gray washcloths and a perfect charcoal gray bath mat. Yay!

I didn't buy the white towels because I have limited funds and white towels are really easy to find at any time. I bought the bath mat and the washcloths though. The washcloths came with a 3rd color, a pretty sea-blue that is almost aqua. I wasn't sure if it would work in my bathroom, but I brought it home and it does! So now I have another color I can add in.

A few weeks back I got some wall art from a Facebook swap group that's all spa pictures. The blue will work with those, too. I have yet to hang them though.

My favorite part of today was beginning to get rid of our old towels and washcloths. We have just a mish-mash collection--several ivory, a couple pale pink, one lavender, a couple random reds and dark blues, yellow, a hot pink, and some cocoa brown. Yuck! I was so sick and tired of looking at them. And folding them. The yellow and pink towels are in shabby condition anyway. So I took them out to our garage today.

I'm not sure what to do with all the old towels. Most of them are still in good condition. Stephen suggested donating them to a non-profit we know of that helps out at-risk women. I think I'll e-mail them and see if they can use them.

Anyway, it feels great to be making my house a bit more aesthetically pleasing. As an HSP and a creative person, that's important to me! :)

Off to bed for now.
