Funny quote from my mom tonight: "If your dad told me the sky was blue, I knew not to believe him unless I saw it for myself or somebody else confirmed it for me."

This is because my dad--and my sister--like to exaggerate about everything, so that they come out looking better.

It's...interesting.

Anyway, our difficult conversation with Mom went fairly well tonight, thanks be to God. We didn't get to share the gospel with her explicitly, but we talked over a lot of things and I think it was good for all of us.

She was actually pretty understanding when we told her that my tense relations with Sam are part of what's keeping us from traveling home for Christmas. Bittersweet. :( I'm glad she understood, but UGH. Life shouldn't have to be this way!!! It just shouldn't BE like this. So much frustration.

This is why I've really latched onto the part of the Gospel that says yeah, life shouldn't be this way!

Um. I think that's all I want to say about it right now. There were some sadder parts of the conversation, but I need to talk to Grandma and Grandpa before I talk about them.

Life sucks.

Oh, I was going to mention--Stephen has to work on Christmas Eve, so traveling isn't going to work anyway. But I hope we can Skype with them.
