Most Important Lesson of 2016
9:26 p.m. || December 30, 2016

"What's the most important thing you learned in 2016?"

Where do I even begin?

I've grown spiritually in leaps and bounds again this year, which is fun. But I can't articulate or pinpoint yet one single lesson God has been trying to enforce in me. Except maybe about friends, and how important they are. But I haven't exactly learned that yet. I'm still learning it.

Another way to put it is, my Christian brothers and sisters are more my family than my own family. I need more family of God around me. I need them alongside me in the super rough cultural waters. A "Republican" (ha) may be President-elect, but in this particular case, it is going to make being a Christian a WHOLE lot harder rather than easier, like past Republican presidents have.

Sounds funny to say it that way. Christians are not synonymous with Republicans. But Republican values and Christian values do overlap a lot in this country.

Anyway, the reason our "Republican" President-elect is going to make our lives harder, not easier, is basically because of the horrible image he's lending to Christianity, because most non-Republicans equate Republicans with Christianity, and Donald Trump is ANYTHING BUT A CHRISTIAN. So I foresee a whoooooole lotta hate and vitriol toward Christians coming out this year. As if there wasn't a ton already. It's going to be a rough year for the true body of believers.

Which is why it's so so so important for us to cling to each other.
