Benji, Week 12: Nearing The End of Fourth Trimester
9:42 p.m. || August 24, 2017

Wow, it's been a while. I could probably have used journaling this last bunch of weeks.

Benji is 12 weeks old now, almost 13 weeks. We're struggling through reflux.

Again.

Yep.

That's enough about that. I complain enough about it on Facebook.

He takes 30 or 40 minute naps in the day (one sleep cycle--I've tried everything) and sleeps like a rock at night, although sometimes he wakes up after one sleep cycle and needs to be resettled back to sleep.

He is sick this week, although I think he may be coming out the other side now. He's had some diarrhea and LOTS of spitting up and fussiness for the last 3 days.

The good news is, we're at the end of the 4th trimester and things should be starting to get a tad more predictable now. Thank God.

The 4-month sleep regression looms ahead. It should start in about a week and a half.

Speaking of a week and a half, we're getting Benji baptized on the 3rd of September. My family is coming to see (including Grandma and Grandpa!!) and so are Stephen's parents. It's pretty stinking awesome when I can get my family to come to my church. I love finding ways to shine light into their lives.

Speaking of family, Cari had her baby. His name is Arlo. She had to be induced and ended up with a C-section. Poor thing.

I just pray against a reflux baby. He is one week old today. One more week until I see how God answers that prayer.

Oh! Smiles. OH MY GOODNESS SMILES! This kid! He smiles a LOT. Much more than Micah did. And his face isn't big enough to hold his smiles AND he has two dimples, like Grandpa B and Uncle Tim. He resembles Stephen's side of the family for sure! So we have a mini-me and a mini-Stephen, which is pretty great. :)

After 2 reflux babies, we are thinking maybe we don't want to do this again. And that's all I want to say about that, because otherwise I will cry. I wanted 3 kids really bad.

Micah had a really rough time adjusting to the new baby but things are way better now. He had lots of nightmares and new fears crop up. They have mostly subsided now.

Benji sleeps well at night, so I am starting to be able to do more things during the day. I even finished a creative project painting crates.

Speaking of paint, we are getting our house painted next week. I'm really excited to see how it turns out. The house will be a light gray, the trim will be black, and the door will be TEAL. Which rocks!! Sometimes I love loving color. :)

I think that's all for now.
