Fall doesn't knock here; it just shows up one day.

Actually, the weather here is totally unpredictable. Located between two kinds of weather systems that "fight for control over the sky," as Relient K says. You never know which one is going to win the skirmish for the day, or week.

It was in the 90s and 100s just a couple weeks ago. And today it's gray and barely holding 70.

I miss the regularity of the seasons where I grew up. Each season was measured out, gradually transitioning into one another, and rarely altering from their patterns. And we definitely had more sunshine, even in winter (although we have our fair share of gray days in winter). The presence of the sunshine made spring actually spring, not extended, slightly warmed up winter.

My thoughts turn this direction every year when the skies start to darken. It's like a rut I always end up in. Argh. Time to start break out the vitamin D...

Okay, trees. You have my permission to start turning now. Perhaps your blaze of color will get me through the following 9 months of practically-winter, winter, and slightly warmed up winter.

Sorry this is so depressed.
