Nasty Virus!
2:56 p.m. || January 28, 2013

Wow, it feels like it's been a while!

Last Tuesday evening my throat started scratching and my nose started feeling dry, and overnight, WHAM, I came down hard with the worst sore throat I have ever had. I felt like my throat was on fire. I actually got tested for strep, just in case, but that came back negative...So I just lived on ibuprofen and loads of water and gentle foods that didn't aggravate it. It continued on into the night and Thursday I woke up with the harshest cough I've ever had, in addition to the sore throat. Friday I had laryngitis for the morning, and the congestion came, although that wasn't any worse than any other cold I've had. I didn't go ANYWHERE for three full days though. What a nasty virus!!

Saturday I had my energy back, but was still dealing with a (less) sore, dry throat and a cough. I'm still coughing a lot today and my throat is vaguely raw, but I can eat bread and other scratchy foods (with some water) now. I'm still avoiding straight-on acidic things like orange juice, though. Yeah, I'm just going to stay away from those things.

Anyway...In the meantime I've been watching movies on the couch that Stephen has no interest in whatsoever. :) I watched Ivanhoe (the 1982 version--I saw it in my very first British literature class at NNU) and A Knight's Tale. I guess I was in a medieval mood, LOL. :) The rest of the time I spent researching makeup ideas, which has been my little obsession/hobby of late. I spent a LOT of time on Pinterest! Heehee.

I think I may have gotten it from a marriage ministry team event we did the 19th. There was a lot of finger food and dice-handling (Bunco)... A little too germ-friendly! I'm going to strongly suggest hand sanitizer at the beginning of the food table to the rest of the team for next time. :P

One piece of good news to share: Stephen has started doing his own personal devotions. Can't tell you how happy this makes me and how long I've been praying he would.

In other news: February weekends are filling up awfully fast!

  • Feb. 2nd is the gala, winter party, ball--it has many names--for Stephen's workplace. I'm so excited! They have amazingly good food there and I get to dress up and be fancy. :)
  • Feb. 9th is Heidi's bridal shower, and afterward I'll be talking with she and her mom about flowers.
  • Feb. 15th-17th is the Marriage Ministry Team retreat.
  • Feb. 23rd is Heidi and Alex's wedding.

After that we'll probably have a weekend with Jon and Amy and Brynn at the local tulip festival. I'm really looking forward to that. I cherish any time we get to spend time with them. They have truly been a blessing to us--friends who have stuck around even after our group dissipated. God is good. :)

Okay, that's it!
