An Unexpected Snow Storm Ministry
4:44 p.m. || February 06, 2014

You know what, I love that God always provides somebody for us to love on. Especially when it's somebody who doesn't speak English. Isn't that funny?

I would LOVE to have, at some point, neighbors who are more "like us," but I'm also really glad that God provides us these other neighbors to love on.

Today, in the middle of the worst snow storm in years here, our single mom neighbor and her 4 kids got locked out of their apartment. In the middle of snow. And wind. And 22-degree temperature. AND, to top it all off, her shoes broke in the snow!! So she was standing barefoot on some coats on our snow-covered apartment landing, asking me if I could somehow help her get into her apartment.

Anyway... Long story short, I let her kids and her in while I made some phone calls to see if I could get this gal and her family into her apartment. I didn't succeed on my own efforts, but she sent her oldest boy to the office to get somebody, and he did find a maintenance man who was able to let them in.

And I'm just so glad I got to have that opportunity to love on them again. I love loving on them.

Where we're moving to, we will most likely have lots of neighbors who don't speak English. I kind of wonder if that's why God appears to be leading us down there, even though it's not "ideal" in a lot of people's minds. I am so okay with having more neighbors that need God's love shown to them in utterly simple ways, like letting them in when it's cold outside. Yep. :)

Not speaking the same language as someone opens doors to ministries you might not be brave enough to do otherwise. :)

Happy,
Stephanie
