Stop Worrying!
11:48 p.m. || September 27, 2005

This is so good!

And it's from a 13-year-old, which further amazes me.

"Recently this boy asked me to be his girlfriend. I told him no, because I think I'm too young to get into that kind of thing. And my mom doesn't want me to date until I'm 16 anyway. I knew it just wasn't the right time.

"It's important to realize that love isn't something to play around with. This verse in Song of Songs makes that clear when it says, "Do not arouse or awaken love until it so desires." (Song of Songs 2:7) We shouldn't run into a dating relationship simply because everyone else thinks it's OK. God wants us to wait for the right person, not because he doesn't want us to have a good time, but because he wants us to have the best time."

Wow. I totally needed to hear that. Here at NNU, you are practically expected to start dating, get engaged, and get married all in the 4 years you attend here. Being very single, that gets hard to face every day, and I start rushing things, opening my eyes as wide as possible to find that right guy.

The best part of the devotional was at the end, where it said, "Remember, God sees the big picture of your life." That might as well have been written in neon letters for the way it jumped out at me! God sees the big picture... He could be seeing this wonderful guy just around the corner and just be waiting for the right time to bring him into my life. And here I am running around trying to get everybody else's attention!

I sure needed this. :)
