Cryptic
3:52 a.m. || February 17. 2007

I thought I met cryptic when I met Kevin. But now Isaac's giving him a run for his money...

Me (2:54:05 AM): ooh ooh random question that I have been dying to ask! :-P
Isaac (2:54:14 AM): uhoh
Me (2:54:17 AM): :-D
Isaac (2:54:20 AM): shoot....
Isaac (2:54:30 AM): *takes cover*
Isaac (2:54:56 AM): its a doozie
Me (2:55:24 AM): oh yeah... you better duck for this one. :-D my roommate lived for a semester in Guatemala. is it true that it's part of Latin American culture for guys to say cheesy sweet things to girls all the time??
Isaac (2:56:03 AM): yep!
Isaac (2:56:27 AM): just, yep.
Isaac (2:56:34 AM): :-D
Me (2:56:55 AM): you're terrible :P
Isaac (2:57:46 AM): it's.... well, I don't know about Guatemala... those are some strange cultures ;-) but in Mexico, it's a part of the game :o)
Isaac (2:58:21 AM): well, not game... its a part of the social fabric
Isaac (2:58:27 AM): that and it's fun :-D
Me (2:58:54 AM): good grief. Mexicans. :P
Me (2:59:03 AM): remind me again how I became friends with one? :-P
Isaac (2:59:09 AM): hey! you like it!
Isaac (2:59:21 AM): (Happy Feet)
Isaac (2:59:25 AM): :-D
Me (2:59:26 AM): lol
Isaac (3:02:58 AM): it's just fun. That and it keeps a healthy tension between both sexes. In most latin american countries tension on a subliminal level gives life a little more spice... a more descriptive way of saying that it keeps things interesting
Isaac (3:03:14 AM): :-D
Me (3:03:27 AM): a healthy tension?
Isaac (3:03:38 AM): of course
Me (3:04:02 AM): you've officially got me interested and will probably keep me up for another half-hour explaining this to me :D
Isaac (3:05:49 AM): imagine being completely comfortable with males all the time... or imagine being completely UNcomfortable 24-7. None of these extremes are healthy, really. Whether the relationship be friends or something more, there is meant to be somewhat of a natural tension between the sexes.
Me (3:06:02 AM): hm
Isaac (3:06:04 AM): example
Isaac (3:08:05 AM): its like dancing. How would you be if your partner didn't offer some resistance when you stepped? Or more basically, how do you know if you have a good dance partner? one leads, the other responds
Isaac (3:08:44 AM): and for every step, every measure, there is an equal step, an equal measure. But the fraction of a second that it takes to respond... that's the tension
Isaac (3:09:17 AM): if it wasn't there, the form of the dance would become sloppy and one, the other, or both of you would be on the floor
Isaac (3:09:40 AM): and/or get stepped on
Isaac (3:09:59 AM): and who wants to get stepped on?
Isaac (3:10:25 AM): that's the unhealthy tension... too much or too little you get stepped on, or worse, you get flattened
Me (3:11:49 AM): is teasing kind of part of that too?
Isaac (3:11:54 AM): saying "random sweet things" as you so aptly put it, but more importantly, the time it takes to get a response, and even most importantly, what that response is... that's the fun part
Me (3:12:47 AM): so that's why you said I was hilarious...
Isaac (3:14:14 AM): I dont follow... why did I say i was hilarious? :-D
Isaac (3:14:27 AM): you were hilarious, same difference...
Me (3:15:00 AM): when you told me you wanted to meet me and then tried to run off :)
Me (3:15:08 AM): and I said "HANG on a second!! you cannot do that"
Me (3:15:13 AM): and you said I was hilarious :)
Me (3:15:39 AM): you wanted the reaction...you got it...and how much fun it was to get was shown in "you're hilarious!"
Me (3:15:46 AM): if I'm doing my math right :)
Isaac (3:15:48 AM): this is probably written down some where
Me (3:15:54 AM): you betcha
Me (3:15:58 AM): on record, in writing :-D
Isaac (3:16:17 AM): so I can't deny such a gross misrepresentation of the facts so hitherto presented?
Me (3:16:34 AM): nope. you can deny the conclusions I drew, but you can't deny the facts :)
Isaac (3:17:25 AM): wait, you lost me: Me (2:15:53 AM): you wanted the reaction...you got it...and how much fun it was to get was shown in "you're hilarious!"
Me (3:17:39 AM): um...
Me (3:17:48 AM): maybe I did my math wrong.
Isaac (3:17:52 AM): LOL!
Isaac (3:18:03 AM): I think it's just a question of grammar
Me (3:18:44 AM): sorry :-P
Isaac (3:18:47 AM): OH! nnnnnnnnnnnnever mind, I got it... sorry, I usually am quick about these things
Me (3:18:54 AM): it's okay
Isaac (3:19:06 AM): or at least I tell myself that i am
Isaac (3:19:08 AM): :-D

Unrelated tangent omitted.

Me (3:21:21 AM): can you believe we've been talking this long? I can't believe it. where in the world do we get all these words to say?
Isaac (3:21:33 AM): so back to these conclusions you've been drawing???
Isaac (3:21:37 AM): LOL
Me (3:21:37 AM): oh no...
Isaac (3:21:44 AM): oh yes
Me (3:21:48 AM): what conclusions? ::innocent look::
Isaac (3:22:02 AM): you're not running away that easily :-D
Me (3:22:16 AM): eek!
Me (3:23:05 AM): ::hides::
Isaac (3:23:47 AM): have you ever seen the tango? It's almost like a waltz, but its basically two pairs of feet fighting each other. and the guitar is always strumming
Me (3:24:03 AM): no, not really
Me (3:24:15 AM): clips in movies, but never enough to come up with an analogy like that
Me (3:24:29 AM): (metaphor?)
Isaac (3:25:52 AM): it's very awesome. Well, it came out of italians/spanish who migrated to Argentina. They usually came to seek political assylum and came with nothing but their families and the clothes on their back
Isaac (3:27:17 AM): they didn't have much for entertainment. and they worked all day. But at night the men would congregate in something not unlike a powow and have competitions in moving, mirroring and stomping their feet
Isaac (3:29:19 AM): usually a guitar or mandolin would accompany these competitions, and pretty soon, tango was born. It was usually known as the forbidden dance to those who thought it was the work of the devil (because they'd be moving so fast). But to the migrant worker, it was the only way they could escape the mundacity of the working world
Me (3:30:22 AM): so...? I'm waiting for the punch line :-P
Isaac (3:30:57 AM): thats all I got.
Me (3:31:04 AM): lol okay
Isaac (3:31:08 AM): :-D
Isaac (3:31:52 AM): how it fits into the grand scheme of things... dancing, structure, tension, etc. like you said: those are just the facts :-D
Isaac (3:32:18 AM): ... and your conclusions :-D
Isaac (3:33:06 AM): ole
Isaac (3:33:19 AM): with the accent on the e
Me (3:33:37 AM): ol :-D
Isaac (3:33:44 AM): HA!
Me (3:33:48 AM): whoa...that was an ordinary smiley
Me (3:33:56 AM): where'd my cute ones go? :-D
Me (3:34:00 AM): oh, there he is. phew
Isaac (3:34:01 AM): lol!
Isaac (3:35:06 AM): ok. I guess I will leave you and your conclusions for the night. I am actually starting to get the teeeeniest bit sleepy :-)
Isaac (3:35:20 AM): just a wee bit, that is
Me (3:36:28 AM): you are amazingly okay with leaving loose ends hanging
Me (3:36:30 AM): I kinda like it :)
Isaac (3:37:23 AM): life is lived on loose ends :-)
Me (3:38:19 AM): actually, I'm getting tired too (WOW). tonight I was in the mode for giving direct answers, so you've lost your chance, but you can fight me for answers another day :)
Me (3:38:40 AM): it's been good talking to you. I still can't believe we carried on a conversation for...almost 6 hours
Isaac (3:38:43 AM): wait a second.
Me (3:38:49 AM): no :P
Isaac (3:38:55 AM): what sorts of direct answers?
Isaac (3:39:21 AM): lol! I love it!
Me (3:40:20 AM): sorry...you're too late :)
Isaac (3:40:43 AM): thought as much: Here's to loose ends
Isaac (3:40:56 AM): g'nite :-)
Me (3:41:07 AM): ::shakes head:: crazy Mexicans...
Me (3:41:14 AM): good night, though :)
Isaac (3:41:20 AM): :-)
Isaac signed off at 3:41:26 AM.

Yeah, those times are accurate. Four hours of sleep tonight! WOO! Not really. Ugh... Thank God for three-day weekends.
