Mom's phone rings with a text message.
Me (thinking it's Sam): "Who's texting you?"
Mom (evasively): "A friend."

Reeeeeaaally.... What could this mean?

This is so weird. My mom is being evasive about her friendships and relationships with me. And what's weirder is this has been going on for a few months now, since I started playing racquetball with her (and then later Zumba). I am really really glad she has friends, because for a while I was worried she didn't have any and was depressed about it and stuff. But now she simply won't tell me anything about them other than that she has them. What the heck?? Mom! I thought we had an open relationship here! When we lived in my hometown, and even after moving here, she talked about her friends from work quite often. What the heck happened?

I swear, sometimes I feel like I'm an adult and Mom is a subtly rebellious teenager. The older I get, the more I realize: She never did quite get out of that stage. :P Sigh.

I'm not really going to worry about it, because that would just be stupid. But I'm sure curious.
