Let Me Not Forget To Tremble
8:27 p.m. || August 09, 2002
I have been listening to Nichole Nordeman's This Mystery the last week (Beth gave it to me to borrow on Sunday), and a lot of the songs' apply to me, like "This Mystery" and "Fool For You" and "Help Me Believe"... But there is this one song that really bugs me. (It isn't just the music part, either. :p ) It's number 2, "Tremble." It's like... I understand it, but I don't at the same time. :p ...It kind of scares me. Especially the 2nd verse. Here are the lyrics:
"What a shame to think that I'd appear
Even slightly cavalier
In the matter of salvation
Do I claim this gift You freely gave
As if it were mine to take
With such little hesitation
'Cause You came and stood among the very least of us
And it's easy to forget You left a throne
It makes me question myself. Have I taken this gift of salvation too.... eagerly? With too little thought? And if I have, what do I do to correct that? And what does "As if it were mine to take" mean? Well, it is ours to take... We just have to ask. So what does that line mean?
I suppose I am taking it out of context. But I still don't know about the rest of those questions. :p
Blah... This reminds me of the first line of the next song ("Fool For You").... "There are times when faith and common sense do not align..." Noooooo kidding! :/ Maybe someone reading this diary can answer my questions......
