Tea Party?

Without anything to do... Half an hour until Stephen gets home...

I'm having a tea party on Saturday. If I had the energy and money to make it more tea-party themed, what would I do?

I'd buy 3 clear bowls from the dollar store to fill with flowers. One would go on the table in the center, one would go on our coffee table, and one would go on top of the television. I'd buy a CostCo bunch of roses, the white and pink and peach ones, and arrange them in each of the bowls with some misty blue.

I'd buy a whole tea set and buy sugar lumps and cream.

I'd buy real English tea (Twinings).

I'd make a bunch of different tea sandwiches, plus petits fours and possibly also scones.

I'd buy some nice plates to put the desserts/food on.

You know, on second thought, I might hire somebody to make the food. I am just not a cook. That is not my gifting! It's not that I'm a bad cook--I just don't like to do it. A lot of work for basic sustenance, if you ask me.

Stephen doesn't agree with my definition of food as simply sustenance. He's a foodie.

We used to have fights about this early on in our marriage. I could not STAND the thought of being married to a foodie. Do not ask... I have absolutely no idea. It's completely irrational, I suppose.

I wish I was gifted with hospitality. :P And a nice home... Yes. That would help a lot!

So... Do I attempt petits fours or not? That is the question. And, do I attempt both petits fours and scones, or one or the other?

I may also buy one of those plates of turkey wraps in the place of tea sandwiches. I looked up tea sandwiches and they'd be easy enough to make, but the flavors are...odd. Cucumbers, watercress, asparagus, goat cheese?? I have NO idea if I even like those things, much less the girls! LOL.

I'm stressing to my husband. He is being very, very patient and helpful. :)

The other thing stressing me is that the girls are the kinds of people that try to eat low-fat everything. I'm, uh, not really that girl. LOL. And all these bakery items contain ridiculous amounts of butter, and also sour cream. And I don't know how they would taste if I substituted low-fat sour cream, or plain yogurt or something. How is low-fat sour cream even possible?

So anyway. I'm going to get off for now; all this talk about food is making me super hungry!
